New! ICTM Learning Network to Connect Teachers
Young teachers and teaching majors: would you like to connect with others like yourself? We would love to have "new" (1-5 years of teaching experience), and soon to be teachers join us online at 6 PM on Monday, April 22 for an informal discussion about teaching. Topics will include what teachers wish they had known sooner and what is working vs. not working in today's classrooms. Let's help each other process what is happening during the beginning teaching years. Looking forward to connecting with you on April 22nd! Zoom link
In the first Learning Network meeting, Lynn Selking talked about using tape diagrams and Sharon Jaeschke talked about teaching pre-service teachers several different types of tape diagrams.
Caleb Potts (seen below), a 1st year teacher at Mid-Prairie High School and Marilyn Zweng First Year teacher grant recipient, was part of the February Learning Network meeting. He learned about using a tape model to teach algebra word problems. He used it with students the next day! Then he had a chance to teach his math PLC group how this model works. This is one of the highlights of his first year of teaching!

Wildcat Warrior Game Club After receiving an ICTM Grant, Humboldt High School, bought 8 games for its game club. All of the games are relatively easy to learn and have varying degrees of strategic thinking. Read more about their experience, and don't forget to apply for a grant for your school or professional development.
