Calling all Leaders!

ICTM is looking for leaders to join our Executive Board in the positions of At-Large Representatives. ICTM needs three new board members who will bring valuable experience, perspective, and humanity to the Iowa math teacher community. Read more about these leadership positions and serving all Iowa Mathematics teachers then nominate yourself or a colleague!

The Marilyn Zweng Grant Committee was able to award 25 grants (!!!) for a total of $10,300 to brand new first year math teachers this year. Names of those receiving grants will be posted on our website.

Jenna Anderson
Mark Twain Elementary, Bettendorf

I am so excited for my first year and am planning to utilize this grant by finding some manipulatives that make math exciting and fun for my students. I cannot wait to get this school year started!

Erica Heckroth
Neil Armstrong Elementary, Bettendorf

I am beginning my first year as a teacher in the district that helped raise me to love school and the relationships created within the environment. I am blessed to be able to return to first grade in the Bettendorf district to form number sense in my students by using Illustrative Mathematics and Number Corner from Bridges.

Miranda Thomas
Oskaloosa CSD, Oskaloosa

I am a first year 4th grade teacher at Oskaloosa CSD, I am so excited to begin teaching in the same district that I graduated from. Our district this year is going to be implementing a new math curriculum called i-Ready, I am going to use the funds from the Marilyn Zweng Grant Committee to purchase math manipulatives for my classroom. I can't wait to begin this journey and help students succeed and develop a growth mindset with mathematics. Sincerely grateful, thankful and excited for this opportunity!

Check out the newest resources on our website: Core-Plus Mathematics: Complete free 4-year high school math curriculum. The latest edition of Core-Plus Mathematics consists of student and teacher materials for a three-year core program designed for all students plus two fourth-year course options: Preparation for Calculus and Transition to College Mathematics and Statistics.

  • NCTM Conference Grant (pays for early-bird conference registration fee and other expenses of up to $1200); due December 1
  • ICTM Teaching & Learning Grant (up to $750)
