Workshop Description
Making Math Irresistible
All students can persevere, but the fear of incorrect answers can hold them back. By implementing the same psychology that video game designers use to create addictive games, teachers can spark student interest, motivate them to take on challenges, and promote productive struggle, even if they have not mastered the material. Discover how to use video game design principles to make math more appealing. The full-day session will feature a combination of stories and math activities so you’ll experience what fun, curriculum-relevant math can be like. In the process, we will highlight several keys to sparking student curiosity, encouraging productive struggle, and promoting meaningful student discourse.
